Water can leak from the top of the diverter if you forget to put the black washer into the diverter before you connect it to your faucet (after you’ve removed the aerator). A black washer is supplied with all countertop filters. You should also use Teflon tape on the threads before installing the diverter if you still have a leak. For more advice visit Isopurewater.com

Many undersink water filters come with their own faucet for drinking and cooking water, leaving your other faucets free for washing.

If you’re not a handy person, though — if changing a light bulb is about as complicating an operation as you want to deal with — then you either decide an undersink filter is not for you, or you ask a friend to install it, or you hire a handyman.

Both counter top and undersink water filters can do a great job, last a long time and deliver pure drinking water at very low cost per gallon.

Can I install reverse osmosis water filter without using faucet comes with it?

I want to get a RO filter for my ice maker. I do want want to dig a hole on my countertop or the sink (or using any existing holes). Is it possible to connect the “tubing to faucet” directly to the ice maker faucet? I only want to use drink water from the ice maker faucet.

Is this possible? Did anyone have experience with this?

Yes this can be done. I do this on a regular basis. Be sure to use plastic tubing from the R/O unit to the ice maker. R/O water is very aggressive to copper.

The drinking water faucet on the kitchen sink broke again. The first time it broke under warranty so Sears gave me a replacement. Installing it the first time and fixing it twice were major hassles because the pipes, sink disposal, and under-sink filtering system leave very little room in the cabinet. Squeezed into that tight space, when water started falling on me I had a Das Boot moment.

The Sears faucet is all plastic, and too brittle for the control lever that eventually breaks. The Sears parts website listed the faucet assembly for , more than I paid for the whole filter system. I eventually found a much better replacement at Fresh Water Systems for . Ordered Tuesday afternoon, UPS Ground delivered it Wednesday afternoon from Greenville, SC. The new faucet is metal except for a few parts like the control lever, but it is beefier and the plastic feels less brittle.

To make room to work I removed both filters, and saw that the sediment filter had turned brown. When new it was as white as the plastic faucet. Now it looks like spaghetti with meat sauce rolled into a log. It left brown streaks on everything it touched. I shouldn’t be surprised since the Oconee river is so muddy. I replaced it with a clean sediment filter, and plan to buy a replacement charcoal filter soon.
